Clarissa co-founded Teach for the Philippines (TFP) in 2012 to better address the broader twin challenges of high-quality teaching and system-level change. TFP recruits, trains, and individually coaches new and tenured public school teachers for two years. The organization also provides its teachers an avenue to engage in public policy to reinforce trust in public institutions. Aside from inspiring students to reach their full potential, TFP-trained teachers are also catalysts for change in communities across the country. Today, TFP is a nationwide movement that has trained almost 350 Filipinos and taught close to 90,000 public school students. About 80% of those who complete TFP’s leadership training program continue to work in the education sector, with nearly 50% working full-time in the government.
