TOWNS Awardees

Dr. Ani Rosa S. Almario is the Founding Director of The Raya School (www.raya.edu.ph), a progressive K-12 institution aimed at developing a true sense of country in its students. She is also the Vice-President for Product Development of Adarna House (www.adarna.com.ph), the country’s first and largest children’s book publishing firm. She is also a former president of the Book Development Association of the Philippines (BDAP) and the Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP), as well as the former Secretary-General of the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY).  She is also a former member of the governing board of the National Book Development Board (NBDB). Currently Ani is also part of the Core Committee organizing the Philippines’ stint as Guest of Honour at the 2025 Frankfurt Bookfair, the world’ largest bookfair.

 

EDUCATION
Ani has a doctorate in Curriculum Studies from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. She also has a masters degree in Learning, Design and Technology from Stanford University obtained through a Fulbright scholarship. She graduated cum laude when she finished her bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

AWARDS AND DISTINCTIONS

Ani was the official Philippine candidate to the International Young Publisher of the Year in the UK in 2004. She was proclaimed one of Quezon City’s iconic women in 2021. She was one of the Manuel L. Quezon Gawad Parangal awardees in 2022. In 2022, she was The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) Awardee for Education and Entrepreneurship.
